Welcome to the German Club

Club
History
The Gold
Coast German Club or "Deutscher Klub" celebrated it's
30th anniversary on the 30th of July 2005.
The family-style club on the corner Jondique Avenue and Gooding Drive,
Carrara had very humble beginnings.
It all
began with a bunch of enthusiastic German migrants.
The club
was founded in 1975, monthly dance nights were held in various RSL
Clubs around the coast. "The aim was to build our own club. Funds were
raised through special functions and the help of sponsors," he says.
In 1978, the committee was able to buy a few acres of land near Carrara.
Soon after the clubhouse began to take shape.
The German Club's Oktoberfest carnival put the club on the map.
The traditional food and beer festival was first held at the Southport
Showgrounds and later at the Carrara Sports Ground.
The Oktoberfest has become one of the coasts most popular events.
It is held in the first week of October at the German Club.
Thousands of people from a variety of cultural backgrounds come along
to celebrate the festival of food and beer.
The committee is enthusiastic about the future of the club. "Hundreds
of volunteers have spent thousands of hours giving up their spare time
to create one the nicest ethnic clubs in the Southern Hemisphere.
Everyone is given a warm welcome at the German Club.
The club is an independent, non-profit making organisation, and has
a great atmosphere and authentic European food.
The licensed club is open to the public all weekend, there is live entertainment
for the young and the young at heart.
The club is able to cater for private functions for up to 400 people.
The German Club has a genuine family atmosphere, the food is great
and the people friendly. It is a meeting place for people to make new
friends, have a meal, a drink and a dance.
Best of all there are no poker machines to interrupt the fun.
